Interestingly, some smartphones continue to run for several minutes even after showing 1% battery, while others shut down within a short time. Why does this happen?

1% does not mean the battery is completely drained.

The battery percentage displayed on your phone 's screen isn't an exact figure. It's an estimate based on several factors.

This includes factors like battery voltage, temperature, phone usage, and the battery's static state. 

So, even when the phone is at 1%, there may still be some usable power left. This is why the phone won't necessarily shut down immediately even if it shows 1%.

Why do companies keep a little reserve in the battery?

Smartphone companies set a safe limit to prevent a battery from draining completely. 

This is intended to protect the battery from damage and prevent the phone from unexpectedly shutting down. Some phones can last a few minutes on 1% battery during normal use. This time can be extended if the phone is used very little and is in standby mode.

However, this time can vary from phone to phone, so it's impossible to say exactly how long a 1% battery will last on every smartphone.

The phone automatically reduces power consumption in the last 1%

Why does 1% run out quickly in old phones?

In such situations, the battery percentage estimate may also be less accurate. This is why older phones can sometimes experience issues like unexpected power failures despite showing a 20% or 30% battery.

What to do if you want to run your phone for a long time on 1% battery?

If your phone's battery is only 1% left and a charger isn't nearby, a few simple steps can be taken to gradually upgrade power. 

First, lower the screen brightness. Turn off mobile data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and location if not needed. 

Close unnecessary apps running in the background to prevent overheating. If you don't need internet or calls, turning on airplane mode can also help to drain the battery.
