RJ Kesari News Desk: July 17 is set to be recorded as a historic day for Northern Railway operations. On this day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially dedicate 11 newly redeveloped, state-of-the-art railway stations to the nation under the flagship amrit bharat station scheme 2026.

This high-profile launch features key transit hubs falling under the Ambala Railway Division, including Amb Andaura, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali), Kalka, and Sri Anandpur Sahib.

A Future-Ready Transformation Costing Crores

According to official project reports regarding the upcoming pm modi railway station inauguration, these 11 locations have been rebuilt with multi-crore budgets to house advanced commercial structures.

The central objective of the Amrit Bharat initiative is not merely giving old ticket halls a fresh coat of paint, but fundamentally re-engineering the railway yards to support growing commuter traffic for the next several decades.

For instance, the Ambala division's Amb Andaura terminal has been meticulously upgraded with a dedicated investment of Rs 23.84 crore.

At Amb Andaura, the administration has laid out an expansive circulating area, highly advanced waiting halls, premium executive lounges, extra reservation-cum-enquiry windows, smart LED ambient lighting grids, and dedicated disabled-friendly (Divyangjan) access pathways.

Dedicated Spiritual and Urban Rail Frameworks

The reconstruction layout has specifically prioritized the unique tourist and passenger demographic of each town:

  • Sri Anandpur Sahib Station: Upgraded with a layout costing Rs 22.20 crore, keeping the heavy influx of spiritual pilgrims in mind. It now features an massive foot-over-bridge (FOB), high-mast outdoor LED systems, upgraded platform shelters, and a specialized, isolated resting hall customized for visiting devotees.

  • Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) Station: This tech-corridor station received an infusion of Rs 22.17 crore. The ambala railway division redevelopment files confirm the construction of a 12-meter-wide foot-over-bridge, dual-side platform modernization, automated lifts, tactile pathways for visually impaired travelers, and a revamped lighting network.

Jalandhar Cantt Tops the Expenditure List

Project balance sheets indicate that Jalandhar Cantt stands out as the most capital-intensive project in this phase of the launch. The jalandhar cantt railway station cost touched an impressive Rs 98.89 crore to facilitate a complete structural turnaround.

Meanwhile, back in Haryana, Narwana station has been fitted with automated lifts, smooth wheelchair ramps, fresh executive waiting rooms, and an organized, high-capacity parking lot executed at an expense of Rs 28.30 crore.

Upgrades Across Kalka, Shamli, and Other Regional Junctions

The historical Kalka station, which serves as the gateway to the popular Shimla toy train route, has integrated Rs 31.42 crore worth of modern passenger amenities indian railways can offer.

The iconic Himalayan gateway now boasts advanced parking spaces, hygienic modular toilets, extended platform canopies, electronic lifts, and smooth step-free ramps.

In addition to these prime junctions, the central government has successfully completed passenger-centric station expansions at several other vital regional spots:

  1. Modinagar: Rs 23.75 crore

  2. Dhampur: Rs 17.31 crore

  3. Muktsar: Rs 21.25 crore

  4. Shamli: Rs 22.08 crore

  5. Harrawala: Rs 30.21 crore

Enhanced Travel Experience Awaits Passengers

The comprehensive operational layout of these spaces mirrors modern airport terminals, bringing integrated public announcements, eco-friendly waste management setups, and localized security surveillance rooms into play.

The Ministry of Railways expects that these upgrades will drastically minimize boarding delays, clear out bottlenecked pedestrian traffic during festive seasons, and offer commuters a highly premium, comfortable waiting experience before they catch their trains.
