RJ Kesari News Desk: Following a high-level site inspection by Union Minister of State B.L. Verma and Haryana Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister Anil Vij, authorities confirmed that the final preparations are nearing completion.

Once operational, this airport will mark a massive milestone, officially becoming the 165th operational airport in India's rapidly growing aviation network.

🌐 A Strategic Aviation Gateway for Multiple States

Spread across approximately 20 acres of land adjacent to the historic Ambala Air Force Station, the new facility is positioned to become a dominant northern India aviation hub.

  • Multistate Coverage: The airport is strategically located to serve millions of travelers not just from Haryana, but also from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Delhi.

  • Seamless Commuting: Since the terminal is built right within the city limits of Ambala Cantonment—already a massive railway junction handling around 276 trains daily—passengers will benefit from effortless multi-modal transit options.

🛩️ High-Tech Infrastructure and Airline Interest

The domestic terminal has been built on land acquired from the Ministry of Defence for ₹133 crore, with an additional infrastructure development cost of approximately ₹18 crore.

  • All-Weather Operations: Minister Anil Vij highlighted that the airport will utilize the military base's advanced runway, which is fully equipped with state-of-the-art navigation systems capable of supporting safe, round-the-clock aircraft movements under any weather conditions.

  • No Technical Obstacles: The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has cleared the project, noting that there are no technical hurdles left to delay commercial clearance.

  • Airlines Line Up: Multiple commercial airlines have already submitted formal applications to launch flight services from Ambala. Highly anticipated routes under active consideration include direct flights from Ambala to Ayodhya, Srinagar, and Lucknow.

📈 Economic Growth and Local Employment

The launch of the Civil Enclave Ambala Cantt is expected to transform the financial landscape of the region. Beyond cutting down travel times—saving commuters from making the long journey to airports in Delhi or Chandigarh—the facility will act as a catalyst for local businesses.

The aviation center is projected to generate substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities in hospitality, logistics, and tourism, providing a major economic lift to neighboring districts like Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Kaithal, Karnal, and Panipat. Officials have confirmed that the final minor installation works will wrap up within the week, clearing the path for an official inaugural flight.
