RJ Kesari Business Desk: The first day of July 2026 has brought no change in petrol and diesel prices across India. State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) released the latest fuel rates at 6:00 AM on Wednesday, July 1, keeping retail prices unchanged despite fresh fluctuations in global crude oil markets.

Although international crude oil prices have shown renewed volatility due to ongoing geopolitical developments, Indian consumers will continue to pay the same rates for petrol and diesel.

No Change in Petrol and Diesel Prices Today

Despite a recent rise in global crude oil prices, petrol and diesel rates remain unchanged across major Indian cities.

In recent weeks, crude oil had witnessed a downward trend. However, renewed geopolitical tensions, particularly in the Middle East, have pushed prices higher once again. Even so, oil marketing companies have not revised domestic fuel prices.

Latest Petrol and Diesel Prices in Major Cities

Here are today's fuel prices across key Indian cities:

City Petrol (Per Litre) Diesel (Per Litre)
Delhi ₹102.12 ₹95.20
Mumbai ₹111.21 ₹97.83
Kolkata ₹113.51 ₹99.02
Chennai ₹107.77 ₹99.55
Noida ₹102.12 ₹97.56

Prices may vary slightly depending on local taxes and dealer commissions.

Why Haven't Fuel Prices Changed?

Although international crude prices have experienced fresh upward movement, domestic fuel prices have remained stable.

Market analysts attribute the latest volatility to ongoing geopolitical tensions affecting global energy markets. However, Indian oil companies continue to maintain existing retail prices without passing on the impact immediately to consumers.

Fuel Prices Saw Multiple Hikes Earlier This Year

Petrol and diesel prices witnessed several increases during May 2026. Oil companies revised fuel prices four times in the month:

  • May 15: Petrol increased by ₹3.00 per litre; diesel by ₹3.29 per litre.
  • May 19: Petrol up by ₹0.87; diesel by ₹0.91.
  • May 23: Petrol increased by another ₹0.87; diesel by ₹0.91.
  • May 25: Petrol became costlier by ₹2.61; diesel by ₹2.71.

Since then, retail fuel prices have remained largely stable despite changes in international crude oil prices.

Crude Oil Market Continues to Remain Volatile

Global crude oil prices continue to fluctuate due to supply concerns and geopolitical uncertainty. While crude prices had declined over the past few weeks, recent developments have triggered another upward move in international markets.

Experts believe future revisions in domestic fuel prices will depend on international crude oil trends, exchange rates, and decisions taken by oil marketing companies.
