South Asia's Largest Private Missile Ecosystem to Be Developed in Madhya Pradesh
Private Missile Ecosystem: Madhya Pradesh is set to become a major hub for defence manufacturing with the development of South Asia's largest private missile and propellant manufacturing ecosystem in Shivpuri district.
RJ Kesari News Desk: The ambitious project marks a significant milestone in India's push to strengthen its domestic defence industry under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
The foundation stone for the project will be laid by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. The facility is being developed by Adani Defence & Aerospace, which plans to invest approximately ₹2,500 crore in the project.
State-of-the-Art Defence Hub to Come Up in Shivpuri
The defence manufacturing complex will be established in Pali village of Shivpuri district across nearly 103.18 hectares of land.
The facility will manufacture:
- Mission-ready missiles
- Ammunition
- Propellants
- Critical defence components
Once operational, the project is expected to transform the Gwalior-Chambal region into a major defence manufacturing destination.
More Than 10,000 Employment Opportunities
The mega project is expected to generate over 10,050 direct and indirect jobs, creating significant employment opportunities for local youth.
Apart from boosting employment, the project is also expected to attract allied industries, strengthen the regional economy, and accelerate industrial development in the area.
Advanced Missile and Propellant Production
The proposed Private Missile Ecosystem will manufacture a wide range of defence materials, including:
- Single-base propellants
- Double-base propellants
- Triple-base propellants
- TNT
- Warhead explosives
- Mission-ready missile systems
The entire supply chain required for missile production will be integrated within the same manufacturing campus, improving production efficiency and reducing dependence on imports.
Project to Be Developed in Four Phases
The defence ecosystem will be completed in four stages:
Phase 1
Production of propellants, TNT, and other defence-grade explosive materials.
Phase 2
Assembly and manufacturing of mission-ready missile systems using the produced components.
Phase 3
Deployment of advanced automated manufacturing technologies capable of supporting multiple missile production programmes simultaneously.
Phase 4
Supply of completed missile systems to the Indian Armed Forces.
Major Boost for India's Defence Manufacturing Sector
According to the company, the project will significantly strengthen India's position in the global defence manufacturing industry.
Adani Defence & Aerospace has already expanded its presence in several strategic defence segments, including:
- Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)
- Smart weapons
- Advanced ammunition
- Aircraft maintenance and support services
The Shivpuri facility is expected to further enhance India's indigenous defence production capabilities and reduce reliance on imported defence equipment.
Supporting the Atmanirbhar Bharat Vision
The upcoming Private Missile Ecosystem is expected to play an important role in advancing India's Atmanirbhar Defence Manufacturing mission.
