Schools Closed in Mumbai, Pune, Thane and Palghar Due to Heavy Rain

Apart from the public holiday in West Bengal, educational institutions in Mumbai, Pune, Thane, and Palghar have also been directed to remain closed because of heavy rainfall.

The decision comes after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued weather alerts warning of intense rainfall across the region.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that the move was taken to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school staff as adverse weather conditions continue.

Red Alert Issued for Pune

Following the IMD's Red Alert for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, the Pune district administration ordered all schools in the district to remain closed.

District authorities said the precautionary measure has been taken to minimize risks and ensure public safety during severe weather conditions.

Mumbai University Postpones Examinations

In view of the heavy rain warning, Mumbai University has postponed all examinations that were scheduled for 6 July 2026.

The university is expected to announce revised examination dates separately. Students are advised to check official university notifications for further updates.
