RJ Kesari News Desk: Despite a recent decline in international crude oil prices, petrol and diesel prices in India remain unchanged. This means motorists will continue to pay the same rates as before, while hopes of an immediate reduction in fuel costs remain on hold.

Crude Oil Prices Fall, But Fuel Rates Stay Unchanged

Global crude oil markets have witnessed a downward trend in recent days, raising expectations of a possible reduction in domestic fuel prices. However, oil companies have not passed on the benefit of lower crude oil prices to consumers yet.

As a result, petrol and diesel rates across major Indian cities remain stable, providing neither additional burden nor relief to consumers.

Fuel Prices Increased Several Times Last Month

Over the past month, oil marketing companies revised fuel prices upward on multiple occasions.

The first major hike came on May 15, 2026, when petrol prices were increased by ₹3 per litre, while diesel prices were raised by ₹3.29 per litre.

This was followed by further increases on May 19 and May 23, when both petrol and diesel became costlier again. Another significant hike was announced on May 25, with petrol prices rising by ₹2.61 per litre and diesel prices by ₹2.71 per litre.

These repeated price hikes have added pressure on household budgets and transportation costs across the country.

Will Fuel Prices Come Down Soon?

Market experts believe that if crude oil prices continue to decline in the international market, there could be room for fuel price relief in India in the coming weeks. However, oil companies have not indicated any immediate price cuts.

For now, consumers will have to wait and watch how global crude oil prices move and whether oil marketing companies decide to revise petrol and diesel rates in the near future.

Outlook

While falling crude oil prices have raised expectations of lower fuel costs, petrol and diesel rates remain unchanged for now. Any future reduction will depend on international oil market trends, government policies, and pricing decisions taken by oil marketing companies.
