Interestingly, the international crude oil market witnessed a slight softening in prices over the last 24 hours. However, state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) in India have chosen to keep domestic retail prices stable, leaving fuel rates unchanged today.

📈 A Look Back at Recent Price Hikes

Following a period of relative stability, domestic fuel rates saw considerable upward movement earlier this quarter. Major state-run petroleum companies revised prices upward four times, severely impacting retail consumers:

• May 15: Petrol price was raised by ₹3.00/litre, while diesel went up by ₹3.29/litre.

• May 19: Retail prices crept up further with an 87 paise/litre increase for petrol and a 91 paise/litre hike for diesel.

• May 23: A matching third hike bumped petrol by 87 paise/litre and diesel by 91 paise/litre.

• May 25: The last sharp adjustment saw petrol jump by ₹2.61/litre and diesel by ₹2.71/litre.
