Whether you're applying for a fresh passport, renewing an expired one, replacing a lost passport, or applying for a child's passport, the new fee structure will increase the cost by ₹1,000 to ₹2,500, depending on the service selected.

New Passport Fees Effective From July 1, 2026
The revised passport fee structure will apply to both normal and Tatkal services across different passport categories.
Adult Passport (36 Pages – Normal)
- Current Fee: ₹1,500
- New Fee (From July 1): ₹2,500
Adult Passport (36 Pages – Tatkal)
- Current Fee: ₹3,500
- New Fee: ₹5,000
Adult Passport (60 Pages – Normal)
- Current Fee: ₹2,000
- New Fee: ₹3,500
Adult Passport (60 Pages – Tatkal)
- Current Fee: ₹4,000
- New Fee: ₹6,000
Lost or Damaged Passport (36 Pages – Tatkal)
- Current Fee: ₹5,000
- New Fee: ₹7,000
Passport Fees for Minors Also Revised
Parents applying for passports for children will also have to pay higher fees after July 1.
Minor Passport (36 Pages – Normal)
- Current Fee: ₹1,000
- New Fee: ₹1,750
Minor Passport (36 Pages – Tatkal)
- Current Fee: ₹3,000
- New Fee: ₹4,250
Passport Validity Remains Unchanged
Although passport fees are increasing, the validity period remains the same.
- Adult Passport: Valid for 10 years
- Minor Passport: Valid for 5 years or until the passport holder turns 18 years old, whichever comes first.
How to Apply for a Passport Online
Applying for a passport has become a simple online process. You can complete most of the application from home by following these steps:
Step 1: Visit the Passport Seva Portal
Go to the official Passport Seva website and select "Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport" under the Quick Links section.
Step 2: Choose the Required Service
Select the category that matches your requirement:
- Fresh Passport
- Passport Re-issue
- Tatkal Passport
- Diplomatic/Official Passport
Step 3: Register or Log In
If you are a new user, create an account using the registration option.
Existing users can simply log in with their credentials.
Step 4: Fill in the Application Form
Enter all required personal, address, and identity details carefully before submitting the online application.
Step 5: Pay the Application Fee
Complete the online payment using the available payment methods. After successful payment, schedule your appointment at the nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).
