By generating electricity directly through hydrogen-based chemical reactions, the train produces zero harmful emissions, with water vapor being the only byproduct. Designed following formal approval from the Railway Board in May 2026, this initiative is a core component of the national strategy to decarbonize the railway network.

The hydrogen train is designed for efficiency and high capacity, featuring a 10-coach Hydrogen DEMU (Diesel Electric Multiple Unit) configuration.
