Devas Phase-III Dam Project Inspection: Collector Reviews Progress, Rehabilitation Work to Be Accelerated

Udaipur News: The Devas Phase-III and Phase-IV Dam Project, considered a lifeline for Udaipur's future water supply, is progressing rapidly. Alongside the construction work, the Rajasthan Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, is also prioritizing the rehabilitation and resettlement of families affected by the project.

RJ Kesari News Desk: To review the progress on the ground, Udaipur District Collector Gaurav Agrawal visited the Devas Phase-III Dam construction site and the proposed rehabilitation village at Mokhi on Thursday.

Rehabilitation Plan Approved for Project-Affected Families

The rehabilitation and resettlement of families displaced by the Devas Dam and Tunnel Project is being carried out under the provisions of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

According to the approved rehabilitation plan issued by the Divisional Commissioner, Udaipur, eligible families from the villages of Nal and Nathiyathal will be relocated to Mokhi village. The government has also planned to provide all essential civic amenities at the rehabilitation site to ensure a smooth and dignified transition for the affected residents.

Collector Inspects Rehabilitation Site and Reviews Infrastructure

During the inspection, Collector Gaurav Agrawal assessed the availability of land and reviewed the progress of essential infrastructure, including:

  • Road connectivity
  • Drinking water supply
  • Electricity infrastructure
  • Drainage system
  • Community facilities
  • Public utility services

The Collector instructed officials from the concerned departments to complete all rehabilitation-related infrastructure on a priority basis so that affected families can be shifted without unnecessary delays.

Government Directs Timely Development of Basic Facilities

Officials have been directed to ensure that every eligible family receives benefits as per government norms, including:

  • Residential plots
  • Road connectivity
  • Safe drinking water
  • Electricity supply
  • Sanitation facilities
  • Community centres
  • Educational institutions
  • Healthcare facilities

The administration has emphasized that all development work at the Mokhi Rehabilitation Site should be completed within the prescribed timeline.

Financial Assistance and Public Participation to Be Ensured

The District Collector also instructed officials to release all approved financial assistance and rehabilitation benefits to eligible families without delay.

Authorities have been asked to actively involve project-affected families throughout the rehabilitation process to ensure transparency and address their concerns effectively. Departments have also been directed to immediately begin the remaining infrastructure and development works.

The Rajasthan Government reiterated its commitment to protecting the interests of displaced families and ensuring their social and economic rehabilitation through effective implementation of the approved rehabilitation policy.

Strict Quality and Safety Standards Ordered for Dam Construction

While reviewing the Devas Phase-III and Phase-IV Dam Project, the Collector directed construction agencies to strictly follow all safety regulations at the worksite.

Officials were instructed to:

  • Maintain high construction quality standards
  • Regularly inspect construction materials
  • Ensure worker safety measures
  • Provide essential facilities for labourers
  • Complete the project within the scheduled timeline

The administration stated that maintaining quality, safety, and timely execution remains the top priority for the successful completion of the Devas Dam Project.
