Why Haven't Fuel Prices Been Reduced Yet?

According to Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, this is not the right time to reduce petrol and diesel prices.

He explained that oil marketing companies are still refining crude oil that was purchased two to two-and-a-half months ago, when international crude prices, insurance costs, and transportation expenses were significantly higher.

When Could Petrol and Diesel Become Cheaper?

The minister said that if global crude oil prices remain low for a sustained period, the government and oil companies may consider reducing domestic petrol and diesel prices.

For now, however, consumers should not expect an immediate cut in retail fuel prices.
