Aaj Ka Mausam 6 July 2026: The southwest monsoon continues to remain active across large parts of the country, bringing widespread rainfall to several states.
RJ Kesari News Desk: According to the latest forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), many regions are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall, while a few areas may witness heavy to very heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Residents in several states have been advised to remain alert as localized waterlogging, reduced visibility, and traffic disruptions are possible in areas receiving intense rainfall.
Rain Forecast for North India
According to the IMD, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, eastern Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir are expected to receive rainfall on 6 July.
Most places are likely to witness light to moderate rain with thunderstorms, while Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and eastern Rajasthan may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations.
In Delhi-NCR, cloudy skies are expected to prevail throughout the day, with intermittent showers likely in several areas.
Heavy Rain Alert for Central and Eastern India
The monsoon is expected to remain particularly active over central and eastern parts of the country.
The IMD has issued a Red Alert for Chhattisgarh, where isolated places could receive extremely heavy rainfall. Odisha is also likely to witness heavy to very heavy rain during the day.
Meanwhile, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha are expected to experience rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
Thunderstorm and Lightning Warning
The weather department has warned that Bihar could witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in several districts. Residents have been advised to avoid open fields, tall trees, and water bodies during severe weather conditions.
Similar weather conditions are expected in many other parts of the country as the monsoon remains active.
Western and Southern States to Receive Widespread Rainfall
The IMD has also forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over Goa, Gujarat, and Madhya Maharashtra.
In southern India, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu are likely to witness widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds at isolated places.
Heavy Rain Likely Across Northeast India
Monsoon activity will remain intense across the northeastern states, including:
- Arunachal Pradesh
- Assam
- Meghalaya
- Nagaland
- Manipur
- Mizoram
- Tripura
Several of these states may receive heavy rainfall during the next 24 hours.
Yellow Alert Issued for Jharkhand
The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert across all 24 districts of Jharkhand from 6 to 9 July, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
The weather office has predicted cloudy skies and light to moderate rainfall across most parts of the state, with isolated areas likely to receive heavy showers.
Mumbai Under Red Alert
The IMD has placed Mumbai under a Red Alert, forecasting continuous rainfall with the possibility of extremely heavy showers in some areas. Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, especially in low-lying and flood-prone locations, and to follow advisories issued by local authorities.
