RJ Kesari News Desk: Several states, including Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Odisha, and Kerala, are likely to witness rainfall today, while heavy showers are expected in isolated areas.

Monsoon Continues to Advance Across India

According to the IMD, weather conditions remain favorable for the Southwest Monsoon to advance over the remaining parts of the North Arabian Sea, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab. The department expects the monsoon to cover the entire country within the next 2–3 days.

Low-Pressure System Influencing Weather

A well-marked low-pressure area is currently positioned over northwestern Madhya Pradesh and adjoining southwestern Uttar Pradesh. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 9.6 km above mean sea level and is tilted southward with height.

Meteorologists expect the system to move north-northwestward before gradually turning towards the northeast, influencing rainfall activity across northern and central India.

Monsoon Trough and Offshore Trough Active

The Monsoon Trough stretches from northwestern Rajasthan to northeastern Bangladesh, passing through the center of the low-pressure area, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. It extends up to 1.5 km above sea level, supporting widespread rainfall.

Meanwhile, an offshore trough continues from South Gujarat to the Kerala coast, enhancing rainfall over western coastal regions.

In addition, another upper-air trough extends from the Northeast Arabian Sea to Sikkim, passing through Gujarat, the low-pressure system over Madhya Pradesh–Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, further strengthening monsoon activity.
