3 New Expressways: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced three major expressway projects aimed at strengthening road connectivity between eastern and western parts of the state. The new corridors are expected to improve transportation, encourage industrial growth, and accelerate regional development.

RJ Kesari News Desk: The three proposed projects include the Meerut-Haridwar Expressway, Vindhya Expressway, and Vindhya-Purvanchal Expressway. According to officials, the land acquisition process has already begun, and the government plans to start construction before the upcoming Assembly elections.

Meerut-Haridwar Expressway to Pass Through 185 Villages

The proposed Meerut-Haridwar Expressway will be approximately 150 kilometres long and will pass through 185 villages across Meerut, Amroha, Bijnor, and Haridwar.

  • Approximate length: 150 km
  • Villages covered: 185
  • Land required: Around 2,000 hectares
  • Planned connection with the Ganga Expressway

Once completed, the project will significantly improve connectivity between Western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, reducing travel time and supporting tourism and trade.

Vindhya Expressway to Connect 341 Villages

The proposed Vindhya Expressway will stretch for approximately 330 kilometres, connecting Prayagraj, Bhadohi, Mirzapur, and Sonbhadra.

  • Land acquisition: Around 4,600 hectares
  • Direct connection with the Ganga Expressway at Prayagraj

The expressway is expected to improve accessibility across the Vindhya region and support industrial, commercial, and logistics development.

Vindhya-Purvanchal Expressway to Strengthen Eastern UP Connectivity

The Vindhya-Purvanchal Expressway will further enhance regional connectivity by linking the Vindhya region with the Purvanchal Expressway.

Project details:

  • Length: 130 km
  • Villages covered: 135
  • Districts: Ghazipur, Chandauli, Varanasi, and Mirzapur
  • Land required: Approximately 2,800 hectares

The corridor will provide faster road access to eastern Uttar Pradesh and improve connectivity with major transport routes.

Land Acquisition Process Underway

Officials have confirmed that land acquisition has already started for all three projects.

District administrations have been instructed to:

  • Complete land verification at the earliest.
  • Prepare detailed land acquisition plans.
  • Submit reports to the State Transformation Commission for further processing.

The government aims to complete the acquisition process without unnecessary delays so that construction can begin on schedule.

Construction Expected Before Assembly Elections

According to senior government officials, the Yogi Adityanath-led government intends to begin construction of all three expressways before the next Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Once completed, the projects are expected to:

  • Improve connectivity between eastern and western Uttar Pradesh.
  • Reduce travel time across major districts.
  • Boost trade, logistics, tourism, and industrial investment.
